Thank you for joining us for Public Meeting #2!
To ensure a transparent process, the project team is releasing all the public comments received from December 11, 2024, through January 15, 2025. These comments will inform the Village of Indian Head Park in their decision of a preferred alternative, out of the three alternatives that were presented at the second Public Meeting. The project team hopes to solidify their decision of a design alternative by the end of spring 2025.
The Study Team has selected a Preferred Alternative
The Indian Head Park and Burr Ridge Boards of Trustees have indicated their support for Alternative 1: Baseline Sidewalk. Their letters of support documenting this decision can be seen here.

Alternative 1: Baseline Sidewalk will be carried forward as the Preferred Alternative, meaning that this is the one alternative that the Study Team will refine to determine specific roadway footprint, drainage, structural, environmental, and potential property impacts. This next portion of the Study will involve substantial coordination with the Illinois Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, and other jurisdictional agencies and will take time to work through.
Once these impacts are better determined, they will be presented at Corridor Advisory Committee Meeting #3 and Public Meeting #3, which are the Study’s final public involvement activities. The Study Team anticipates holding these meetings in early 2027, with a goal of finishing the Phase I Study in Summer 2027.
The Study Team has concluded reviewing and summarizing the 142 public feedback submissions regarding the Alternative Component Map. The latest project resources can be found on the Public Feedback webpage.
Project Overview
The Village of Indian Head Park in conjunction with the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (DoTH), has initiated a Preliminary Engineering and Environmental (Phase I) Study for 2.3 miles of Wolf Road from 79th Street to Plainfield Road. Wolf Road is mostly a two lane roadway under Cook County DoTH jurisdiction that primarily falls within the Villages of Indian Head Park and Burr Ridge. The City of Countryside and Village of Willow Springs are also adjacent to the corridor.
The goals of the Wolf Road Corridor Study are to improve existing roadway deficiencies, bring the corridor up to current design standards, improve traffic safety and operations, accommodate future travel demands and review or improve pedestrian and bicycle accommodations.
Project Need
The existing Wolf Road corridor does not meet the future needs of the communities it serves. If nothing is done to the Wolf Road corridor, the pavement surface, structure conditions, safety, and traffic operations will continue to deteriorate over time. There will also continue to be a lack of pedestrian and bicycle facilities to access local businesses, schools, parks, and other destinations along and adjacent to the corridor.
